membership ... can I join rotary?
Rotary Club members are part of a
diverse group of men and women working to address various community and
international service needs. Through community service and other means, Rotary
Club members help promote peace and understanding throughout the world. Our
members are our most important asset. They are the force that allows Rotary to
carry out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its overall mission.
Essentially, membership is
simple.
You need to be a person of good
character and standing, either in or have been in a trade or profession. Our
membership includes a wide cross section of the community; from people in the
private sector to public servants, self employed and retirees, education and
health care to trades.
You need to be willing to commit yourself, mostly in terms of some time and cost.
This is further explained under
"Commitment & Involvement".
It is difficult, in a few words here, to explain why people join Rotary. Standard clichés often apply, including:
"I gain
far more from being a member, than I contribute."
Membership of all Rotary Clubs is (generally) by
invitation. It is not necessary that you know a member of our club. Our club
expects anyone who is considering becoming a member to attend several dinner
meetings before the club will extend an invitation to become a member.
The members look forward to your
possible involvement, and are only more than happy to discuss with you what we
do, why we do it, and how. Either speak to one of our members at a Sunday
Trash and Treasure Market, or contact our Membership Officer at
Membership.
