AVENUE OF SUPPORT ... NEW GENERATIONS (YOUTH)

Our club has a very strong commitment to assisting the young people in the Belconnen community, and further afield.

We do this in many ways including:

  • Literacy grants to public and private schools in the Belconnen area for the purchase of books and materials to assist the development of literacy skills;

  • Contributions to Principals' Discretionary Funds so that schools can provide assistance to children who otherwise would not be able to partake in select school activities;

  • Support for volunteers in the classroom to support students who require further assistance;

  • Bike safety checks at a local primary school;

  • Supporting high school students to attend a weekend RYPEN (Rotary Program of Enrichment) seminar which provides an opportunity for students to develop leadership qualities;

  • Financial support to youth organisations and in some select cases to individuals;

  • Host student debating teams; and

  • Support for school teams taking part in the MUNA (Model United Nations Association) program, established by the Rotary Club of Canberra-Sunrise and now a program operating in many countries.

Many of these programs are advertised on the Rotary District 9710 website www.d9710.rotary.org.au or our website. If you are interested in any of these programs, Contact Us for further detail.

Schools, organisations and individuals who are seeking assistance, should refer to General Guidelines and then Contact Us for further detail.  If in any doubt, ASK ...
